Sizing for .dst files
Skip Jones
Hello,
It would be extremely helpful to be able to size files on embroidery products. Right now you have to upload a .dst file for a product to show up as embroidery. But to do that you can not size the artwork in IS so as a result our products do not show a true representation of the relative scale of the artwork to the product. So the suggestion is to either allow resizing of the .dst file when placing it on the product or have the ability to identify the decoration process as embroidery or other process when setting the design on the product image.

You can resize an embroidery image. However, you must do it on the edit print regions pop up. When adding a new item, click on the little pencil under the picture of the item. Then click on the middle drop down "WIDTH". If you want the embroidery image to be bigger, click a smaller sized item width. If you want the embroidery image to be smaller, click a larger sized item width. This is backwards, I know. Doing this does allow you to scale the embroidery image. Click save and move on. You will have to experiment a bit.

Pati Robben This option does not work for me. I made the imprint area smaller or select a smaller width and it just cuts off the DST file. It does not actually make the imprint smaller. I'm not finding a way to resize an embroidery file. Which is why we mostly upload SVGs for that, but then that confused our production folks. SIGH.

Carrie Haver That will happen if you don't have the print region big enough. I usually make the print region super big and then move the embroidery image around inside of it to the correct spot.

Pati Robben I can make the print region cover the whole shirt - it still does not allow me to resize the embroidery file. No matter the size of the print area, it brings in the DST file ONE size - no way to resize it. Sometimes for a left chest it it simply too big and I cannot scale it down at all. Making the print region smaller does nothing besides cut the logo off around the edges. Am I missing something here?

When adding a new item add the embroidered logo. If it is the wrong size, click on the little pencil under the picture of the item. Then click on the middle drop down "WIDTH". If you want the embroidery image to be bigger, click a smaller sized item width. If you want the embroidery image to be smaller, click a larger sized item width. This is backwards, I know. Pati Robben maybe this works if you want to make the item bigger, I do not know. But I need to make it SMALLER. Even on a left chest - I went in and select pocket which was 3" instead of 4, and this is the result I get - it just cuts off the file.

Carrie Haver That is because your print region is too small - click the trashcan and delete what you have - then click the pencil below the image and make the print region (the blue box) bigger and save the changes. Then, if the logo size is too big, click the pencil again and follow instructions for resizing. This works every time for me. Call me if you want - 585-445-8000 and I can walk you through it. It took me a while to figure this out and it's hard to explain. Inksoft has made us a lot of money on webstores, but it can be really frustrating as well.

Pati Robben Thank you so much. I will try to call sometime tomorrow perhaps. If someone has figured out a way to do this, I want to know! :) I appreciate it. I cannot get this to work for me so walking through it on the phone may be helpful.

Totally agree! Would be super helpful for the customer to see and in production as well.

It would also be helpful in production
Right now we use print files for stores because we can’t size appropriately to the product. It can really confuse our production team what process to use
