Many businesses rely on order notification emails as part of their daily workflow. Currently, the order number displayed in the email subject includes a long prefix with several leading digits before the unique identifying number.
It would be extremely helpful if merchants could customize how order numbers appear in customer and admin email subjects. For example, options could include:
* Display only the unique sequential order number (e.g. #127 instead of #100000127)
* Remove leading zeros or prefixes
* Define a custom order number format or prefix
* Toggle between the full internal ID and a shortened display ID
For businesses processing a high volume of orders, team members often identify orders directly from their inbox. Shorter, cleaner order numbers make it much easier to:
* Find orders at a glance
* Organize and label emails
* Reference orders internally
* Reduce mistakes when communicating with customers
The full internal order ID can still exist in the system if needed, but allowing merchants to customize the display format in email subjects would greatly improve usability without affecting order integrity.
Thank you for considering this feature! It would make order management much more efficient for teams that rely heavily on email notifications.
